What Is A Sales Funnel And Why You Won't Succeed Online Without One

Blue Funnel, Shanghai, Expo, Exposition

A sales funnel is the buying process that a customer travels through once the lead has been obtained. It gives the marketer repeated opportunities to convert them into buyers and to offer upsells and downsells to acheive maximum profits.

The first step in creating a sales funnel for your business is to build a "landing page." The landing page allows your customer to opt in with an email address usually to receive access to additional information closely related to the topic.

It is not advised to sell any product or service directly from an ad promotion. The first contact with a potential customer should be one of developing trust. This is accomplished through repeated contact and providing free valuable information.

It is a process of building a relationship and establishing yourself as one of authority. It is only then can a sale or multiple sales can be made.
If you are an affiliate marketer most vendors have such great marketing machines behind them that are carefully designed to do all the selling for you. You are just a go between for the customer and the product provider.
That does not mean you do not need to build your own list. Having your own customer list will provide you with a steady stream of income that will only grow over time. Having your own list is an incredibly valuable asset.

The Funnel Process

Once the landing page has been created, the next step in the full process is the primary offer. By establishing a minimum of two upsells and two downsells you have several opportunities to produce a sale. At this point it is only required that you stay in frequent contact and build a relationship with the client.

Since the customer has already shown an interest in a certain type of product or service, it is only a matter of creating addition mini-funnels that are similar. This is a proven process and the sales will follow.

Why Do You Need a Sales Funnel?

You may not realize it, but it cost McDonald's $1.91 in advertising to get you into their drive through... and when they sell a hambuger for $2.10 they only make an .18 profit.

But, when they upsell fries and a coke for $1.77 more, they make (and keep) an additional $1.32 profit... 8 times the profit of the original sale. This is the sales funnel process in action.

If your like most people who sell online, you set up a web site and start selling your product. But like McDonald's, even if you're generating sales, after your advertising cost there isn't much left to even pay the bills.
That is the moment you realize that if you want to make money online you can't sell from a static web site. You need to do as McDonald's does and setup an sales funnel.

Online the customer goes through a "capture page" where you can gather specific information and follow up with them through email.
Instead of selling them a burger and fries, you have a sales page created to sell your initial product and upsells.

I know to some of you, setting all this up and creating sales funnels can be daunting. But, the good news is there's help. Any business or individual can literally build out complete working professional funnels using a simple copy and paste process.

This system includes building your landing pages, creating your offers, autorepsonders for capturing emails to build your business, professional email scripts and low cost hosting and domain registration. These are all available for free that you can access below.

Most internet marketers are struggling to make any sales online at all while others are exploding their income raking in 10's of thousands of dollars per month. The number one difference between success and failure is the sales funnel. It is the surest way to internet wealth that exists today.
