How to Stop Spam Traffic from lifehacĸer.com and Other Spam Sites

Road Sign, Attention, Shield, Stop

Over the last few days, I have seen bloggers are getting referral spam traffic from many spam sites including lifehacĸer.com, thenextweb.com, and other spam domain names.

If you look clearly, that’s not the original LifeHacker.com which is a popular site, but similar looking domain name using Unicode characters to sound like the original one.

The primary goal of the spammer is to send hundreds of hits to random websites, and when we blogger’s enquired to check out where the hits are coming, they will show spammy ads on their sites.

Here is proof that bloggers are having a hard time with these spam sites.

HOW TO STOP SPAM TRAFFIC FROM LIFEHACĸER.COM

There are two ways we can stop spam traffic from these locations. The first one is from Google Analytics Dashboard, and the other is to install a WordPress plugins.

METHOD ONE: STOP SPAM TRAFFIC USING GOOGLE ANALYTICS
  1. Login to your Google Dashboard account.
  2. Go to Admin tab and click on Filters on the right side under the view section.
  3. Click on ‘Add Filter’ button to add a filter which will exclude traffic from these spam sites.
  4. Give any name to filter and select custom filter type.
  5. Now click on the drop-down menu and select ‘campaign source’ from the list.
  6. In the Filter Pattern Box, add lifehacĸer.com
  7. Click on Save to apply the changes.
  8. To add multiple spam sites in the filter pattern box, use | (pipe) between each URL.

Below are few ready made spam filters you can copy and paste .

http://3-letter-domains.net | http://79724073-1.compliance-irvin.xyz | http://abc.xyz

http://abcdefh.xyz|http://advokateg.xyz | http://alfabot.xyz | http://arendovalka.xyz

http://begalka.xyz | http://bezlimitko.xyz | http://biteg.xyz

http://boltalko.xyz | http://brateg.xyz | http://budilneg.xyz | http://buketeg.xyz

http://bukleteg.xyz | http://compliance-irvin.xyz |http://compliance-walt.top |

tabletstart.lenovo.com | tcl.start.fyi | us.wow.com | zdsearch.com | int.search.tb.ask.com |

eyeserp.com

Create four different filters with different names, use the above setting and copy paste these four custom spam filters in the filter pattern box.

METHOD TWO: INSTALLING A PLUGIN TO STOP SPAM REFERRAL TRAFFIC

Install and Activate Bot Block Plugin from WordPress.org

This plugin has two main functions:
  • To stop spam traffic before it reaches your site (which stops spam visits showing in Analytics).
  • Save bandwidth, bots use bandwidth when they visit your site, this plugin stops them before they get the chance to download anything.
However, in their full list of Spam Sites, I couldn’t find the latest spam referrals.
